SMART SCALES
List of safety warnings for SMART SCALES based on the requirements of Regulation (EU) 2023/988 on general product safety (GPSR):
1. User manual: Before first use, carefully read the user manual provided by the manufacturer. In the case of smart scales, configuration with a dedicated mobile application is recommended according to the supplier's guidelines.
2. Application: The device is intended exclusively for household monitoring of body weight and (in the case of smart models) body composition parameters.
3. Limitations: The product is not a medical device. Measurements are for orientation purposes only and cannot be used for medical diagnosis, treatment, or making therapeutic decisions.
4. Medical implants: Smart scales use bioelectrical impedance analysis (BIA), sending an imperceptible electrical pulse through the body. Persons with pacemakers or other active medical implants should not use the body composition analysis function due to the risk of disrupting the operation of the implant.
5. Pregnancy: Pregnant women should use the device with special caution. In the case of smart scales, it is recommended to use only the body weight measurement function (without body composition analysis), if the manufacturer allows such an option.
6. Physical conditions: Body composition analysis results may be imprecise in individuals with edema, fever, or in dialysis patients.
7. Risk of slipping: Do not step on the scale with wet feet or when the surface of the device is damp. Surfaces made of tempered glass can become extremely slippery in contact with water.
8. Stability: Place the scale only on a hard, flat, and stable surface. Placing the device on an uneven surface or a soft carpet may lead to erroneous measurements or loss of stability.
9. Foot placement: Stand still in the center of the platform during measurement, avoiding standing on the edges of the device, which could cause it to tip over.
10. Load: Do not exceed the maximum load capacity specified by the manufacturer in the technical specification.
11. Power supply: Use only batteries of the type and parameters specified in the user manual.
12. Battery maintenance: Never mix different types of batteries or new and used batteries. If the device is not used for an extended period, remove the batteries to prevent leakage and damage to the electronics.
13. Charging (if applicable): For scales with a built-in battery, use only certified chargers matching the device's technical parameters for charging.
14. Small parts: Batteries, battery compartment covers, and small accessories pose a choking hazard. Store out of reach of children aged 0–3 years.
15. Supervision: Children may use the device only under adult supervision.
16. Cleaning: Clean only with a soft, dry, or slightly damp cloth. Do not immerse the device in water and do not use strong chemical detergents or solvents.
17. Repairs: Do not open the housing or attempt to repair the device yourself. Any tampering risks damaging the equipment or causing injury.
18. Recycling: The product must not be disposed of in regular household waste bins.
19. Selective collection: As electronic equipment, the scale is subject to selective collection at designated recycling points (WEEE). Hand over used batteries to a hazardous waste collection point.
Following the above rules reduces the risk of injury, equipment breakdown, and property damage. Ignoring them may lead to serious health and technical problems.Detailed information and additional warnings can be found in the user manual included with the product or in PDF format on the manufacturer/supplier website.
